FROM VISION TO REALITY
Our process brings together and manages our network of experts across multiple steps:
CONSULTATION
First, we need to understand what you want, how you want to use your yacht and establish your budget. We are adept at working with a range of shipyards who can work to diverse budgets and offer various delivery times. You may be able to customise a yacht currently under construction and be on the water sooner, or wait and build completely bespoke.
PLANNING
Once we have established your guidelines, we can start planning more detail, such as which hobbies you want to cater for. Most yachts have pools, spas and gyms, some have dive centres, basketball courts and helipads. Knowing this, the number of cabins you require and your cruising preferences will define the size and range of your yacht. The expert designers and naval architects in our network will be able to conceptualise the detail. A good designer will often be a qualified naval architect and is able to create the general arrangement (GA) and initial designs to a specified flag state’s regulation (which we advise on).
THE DESIGNS
The design process itself is an intricately layered process, starting from the outside and working in. Bringing in the exterior designer and naval architect first, ensures the shell of the project is established giving an interior designer the parameters on which to work. These natural steps also ensure the right people are involved at the right stage, mitigating costly time wastage early on if the project changes for any reason.
CHOOSING YOUR YARD
If a shipyard has not already been chosen, we officially take the project to tender. Factors such as brand, available construction and delivery times, specifications (to be agreed), and of course price will help shortlist shipyards to start the negotiation process. Our network of expert maritime lawyers draft contracts including specific warranties and detailed specifications. Once agreed and contracts are signed, construction commences.
CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
Only now are we ready to begin building. From laying the keel to the final layer of paint, we appoint a highly experienced project manager for smaller new builds, and a team of specific experts for larger projects. Throughout the build, from keel laying to sea trials, we keep you regularly informed of progress, taking photos and video in real-time. Our expertise and attention to detail ensures the different stages of the build progress to deadlines and in line with expectations. This is of paramount importance, as any changes made after construction starts will directly impact the budgets. The stages run in parallel with payments, giving you financial clarity and tight cost control.
TAKING DELIVERY
Before acceptance and final delivery, sea trials are undertaken, with the project manager ensuring absolute quality in the detail. The transition from shipyard to you, the owner, culminates in the final payments, registration documentation completed, adherence to flag state regulations and necessary insurances. Having an expert team who understand every detail, representing your interests, is mission critical to a successful build and delivery.
OPERATING & MAINTAINING
After your yacht, your next best investment is the yacht management team. Our carefully curated network is comprised of yacht management specialists adept at operating and maintaining your yacht to your needs. Your yacht manager will ensure your yacht is ready and prepared for your use. From HR, payroll, rigorous registration documents, organising maintenance work, safety and security to budgeting and reporting, your team will work discreetly and efficiently in the background, working with your onboard team to plan your future trips.
